Wylie Wabbit

1986 Wylie Wabbit - Dust Bunny LOA: 23' 9". Beam: 5' 7". Displacement: 875 lbs. Sail plan: main, jib spinnaker. Upwind sail area: 186 sq. ft. Spinnaker sail area 294 sq. ft. This is a 1986 edition of the 1982 design from the board of Tom Wylie, notable for the fact that it is a keelboat with a trapeze, and remarkable for its speed and astonishingly successful racing performance. These boats consistently obtain podium finishes in races on San Francisco Bay and the Delta, including the Three Bridge Fiasco, the Delta Ditch Run to Stockton, the Great Pumpkin, and the Big Daddy to name just a few. They are a one-design fixture at Whiskeytown, the Richmond Yacht Club Small Boat Midwinters, and the High Sierra Regatta. For those willing to take it on, they have also done very well in the Double Damned in the Gorge. There is also the "special" brand of racing generated by the Wabbiteers themselves such as the Wiver Wun, and the like. To see details, check out the fleet web page at
http://www.wyliewabbit.org/. (And be sure to look over the photo gallery.) This particular boat is in great shape. It has the much coveted and no-longer-produced original spar, which was made better yet by it having been "turbo'd by Scott Easom in 2010. It also has class-legal, structurally strong, KKMI-installed bulkheads. In addition, the rudder was evaluated in 2010 and found to be very sound. The boat has seen very little use since 2010. There is a match crutch, a motor mount, the required flotation bags, and a trap harness. The current sail inventory includes two practice quality mains, two 100% jibs, two spinnakers, and a race quality genoa. There is also a storm main and jib good for single-handing and cruising around the Bay. The included trailer is solid, with "oil-reservoir" wheel bearings. This boat will return a huge bang for the buck and, with the included trailer, is an exceptional value. $4,500

Santana 22

1966 Santana 22 -- This enduringly popular Gary Mull design is still very active on San Francisco Bay, and provides an excellent means of getting into spirited one-design or shorthanded racing without busting the budget. Check out the S22 Fleet 1 (San Francisco) web site at santana22.com. Although over 40 years old, this design is still being built by the W D. Schock Company. However, while a brand new boat can cost over $30K, older boats continue to win. This particular boat will need some cosmetic work, but she is sound and ready to sail. About six years ago, she got new rigging, a new barney post and main sheet set up, stainless steel keel bolts, and a new mast support beam of the style currently used on the new boats. This new beam eliminates the need for a compression post/mast jack, and opens the interior up considerably. The rudder was replaced about 2 years ago. She has a main, class jib, spinnaker, and the bridge deck line organizer. $700.00

El Toros

Two (2) never-been-used El Toro sail boats. Each of these boats, including the mast, boom, daggerboard, rudder, tiller, and even the paddle, was hand-built to class measurement specs by the Portola Junior High School wood shop class. The hulls are plywood with an outer skin of fiberglass. The spars, boards, rudders, tillers and paddles are beautifully crafted and varnished. The boats come with lines, but do not have sails or flotation. These are really pieces of wood-working art as well as great little boats. $400.00 each.
